the new plan envisages to quadruple the production of cars while passing from a production from 200.000 to 800.000 units. FIAT and Renault are candidates to help Soviet to assemble factories.
- In Ukraine, FIAT will be authorized to build a factory to assemble a model derived from FIAT 124 and which will employ 20.000 workmen for an awaited production of 300.000 units.
- Renault obtains in June a big contract to modernize various existing factories, in particular those which produce the Moskvitch.

January 1st: Coup d'etat of the general Jean-Bedel Bokassa in Central Africa which replaces the president David Dacko. Bokassa dissolves the Parliament and suspends the Constitution.
- January 3rd: In the Upper Volta, a popular rising leads the first president Maurice Yaméogo to resign. The colonel Aboubacar Sangoulé Lamizana becomes president of the republic in the name of the army.
- January 15th: The president of the Nigeria Nnamdi Azikiwe is reversed. Beginning of a series of successive Coups d'etat in Nigeria. Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi seizes the power (fine the July 29th).
- February 24th: Kwame Nkrumah, absent, is deposited by a military coup d'etat to the Ghana.
- March 2nd: Milton Obote seizes the power in Uganda following a coup d'etat against the kabaka (king) of Bouganda. It imposes a bloody dictatorship (300 000 died of 1966 with 1972).
- May-June: “Conspiracy of Pentecost” to the Congo-Kinshasa, of which the alleged leaders are hung as a public in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators.
- June: China grants a new loan to the Mali and sends new technical assistants.

- June 28th: Military coup d'etat in Argentinian. Arturo Umberto Illia is reversed. The general Juan Carlos Onganía seizes the power, proclaims the “Argentinian revolution” ( Revolución Argentina ) and sets up an bureaucratic-authoritative mode. An economic program of fight against inflation, including/understanding a gel of the two years wages, is implemented.
