  • the United Kingdom: The Times car with 187  000 specimens (four times more than pre-war period). The Daily Mail car with nearly 2 million. The weekly magazine News off the World attracts 3,2 million readers. The press of preserving opinion dominates with the empires of Lord Beaverbrook (4 million readers with the Daily Express , the Sunday Express and the Evening Standard ) and of Lord Rothermere (Daily Mail General Trust).
