- January 18th: Gravissimamque encyclical Maximam : the pope accepts the compromise on the legal status of the Church of France.
- January 25th - February 5th: Winter Olympics to Chamonix
- January 31st - February 2nd: The socialist congress of Marseilles accepts the Cartel of the lefts.
- February 8th: Poincaré obtains the financial full powerss.
- monetary Crisis after the occupation of the the Ruhr (1923-1924). Poincaré solves it by a loan at the bank Morgan and to consolidate the franc, increases the taxes of 20% the day before the elections.
- March 28th: Creation of the “French Company of Oils” (future “Total”).
- March 29th: Radiola takes the name of Radio Paris.
- April 18th: The France accepts the Plan Dawes.
- April 28th: Gaston Ramon, French, presents the vaccine Antidiphtérique.
- May 3rd - July 27th: Olympic Games of summer of 1924 with Paris.
- May 11th: Victoire of the Trust of the lefts (SFIO and radicals) to the Legislative ones.

- June 15th: Edouard Herriot President of the Council (1) and Foreign Minister. The Socialists support the Herriot government without taking part in it. The Trust vainly tries to apply the laic laws to the Alsace-Lorraine and to make respect the laws on the congregations.

- October 29th: Recognition of the Soviet Union.
- November 23rd: Transfer of ashes of Jean Jaurès to the the Pantheon of Paris.
