  • Developed of the shooting synchronized through the propeller by the sergeant Robert Alkan and Roland Garros.

  • April 6th : Entry in war of the the United States. The American air forces include/understand 54 apparatuses then (none them is operational), 1 airship which never yet flew and 3 balloons for 239 men and 48 officers.

  • May 6th : The Captain Albert Ball, first large British ace, signs his forty-seventh and last victory.

  • May 20th : A German submarine, U-36, is attacked and run by British aviation.

  • May 24th : The French government asks the the United States to provide 5.000 pilots and 4.500 planes for spring 1918.

  • July 27th : Arrived at the the United States of five first “of Haviland DH4” having to be used as model to the American manufacturers, technologically exceeded following the research undertaken in Europe, war obliges, in the military field. To announce that the French and British industrialists were very hostile with this technological transfer.

  • August : Installation with the Morocco under French authority of an air postal service connecting the main cities.

  • 19 with the October 20th : Great German night air raid on the United Kingdom.

  • October 29th : First flight of the American clone of “Haviland DH4”, been driven by engines “Liberty”.
