  • Creation of the Inspection of French military aeronautics with the General Castlings like first chief.

  • First tests of autopilot by Elmer Sperry.

  • January 10th : The lieutenant Charles Samson is the first British pilot to take off since a ship: he leaves on board S.38 Shorts a platform arranged on battleship HMS Africa.

  • January 29th : The Blatchke American beats the record of altitude in the plane: 4.260 Mr.

  • March 1st : The French Jules Védrines beats the speed records pure in the plane: 166,821  km/h on a “Deperdussin”.

  • March 2nd : The French Jules Védrines beats the speed records pure in the plane: 167,910  km/h on a “Deperdussin”.

  • March 24th : The Suisse François Durafour accomplishes the first flight in the plane in Uruguay on a “Deperdussin”.

  • Mars : First jump in parachute of Albert Berry.

  • April 16th : American the Harriet Quimby, first woman managing to cross the English Channel in solo. It flies on a “Blériot”.

  • April 27th : “Deutsch Cut of Meurthe”. The Tabuteau French gains the test by traversing 200  km in 1 hour, 47 minutes and 48 seconds.

  • May 30th : Death of Wilbur Wright (Pilot's license N°15).

  • June 8th : The Sopwitch British gains “Aerial Derby” over “Blériot XI”.

  • July 13rd : The French Jules Védrines beats the speed records pure in the plane: 170,777  km/h on a “Deperdussin”.

  • September 9th : The French Jules Védrines gains the “cut Gordon Bennett” disputed with Chicago. With new the monoshell of “Deperdussin”, it reaches a speed record of 174,1  km/h; new record.

  • September 11th : The Fourny French beats the record of distance in the plane: 1  010,9  km. It is the first time that the barrier of the 1.000  km (officially) is reached. During this flight, Fourny also improves the record of time of flight: 13 hours, 17 minutes and 57 seconds.

  • September 26th : Death of Charles Voisin, victim of an automobile accident.

  • December 12th : With Issy-les-Moulineaux, the “ejector seat” of the Baron d' Odkolek is tested. A mannequin is ejected of an airplane in flight thanks to a small gun.

  • December 21st : The French Roland Garros beats the record of distance in the plane to the top of the sea: 415  km between Trapani (Sicily) and Santa Eufenia (Italy).
