- January 2nd: The government specifies the conditions of the inventory of the goods of the clergy, which causes sharp protests. Incidents with Holy-Clotilde in Paris.
- January 16th - April 7th: Conference of Algeciras.
- February 17th: Armand Fallières is elected president of the Republic.
- March 7th: The government Rouvier resigns.
- March 14th: Government Sarrien (fine the October 20th).
- March 16th: Clemenceau orders the suspension of the inventories.
- March 10th: Catastrophe of Courrières. 1099 minors perish following a firedamp explosion. Strikes burst to protest against the security condition in the mines. The Minister of Interior Department Clemenceau makes send the troop.
- April 18th: Signature of the Russian loan.
- May 1st: General strike to claim the day of 8 a.m.
- May: Success of the lefts to the legislative ones.
- July 12th: The Court of appeal break-in the verdict of Rennes, Dreyfus finally is rehabilitated, and reinstated in the army.
- July 13rd: Adoption of the laws on the obligatory weekly rest and the closing of the trade Sunday.
- October 8th: Congress of the CGT. Adoption of the Charter of Amiens proclaiming the independence of the trade union and recommending the general strike.
- October 25th: Georges Clémenceau president of the Council (fine in 1909). Government Georges Clémenceau (1). A Ministry of Labor is created for the first time.
- France has known its first surplus of the trade balance for 25 years, thanks to exports of cars.
- 560 000 shareholders. 960 000 servants.
