January 18th: Resignation of the President of the Council Emile Combes, following the Business of the cards.
- January 24th: Maurice Rouvier elected President of the Council. Government Maurice Rouvier (2).
- March 21st: The law, prepared by the General Andre, imposes the Military service like personnel, equal and obligatory, but lowers its duration to two years. It introduces the concept of deferment of the military service.
- March 31st: Blow of Tangier: Tangier the emperor Guillaume II of Germany opposes the French penetration with the Morocco.
- 14 - April 17th: Turbid of Limoges : the porcelain workmen (inter alia), not supporting their work conditions put themselves in strike. The assessment will be of a death.
- 23 - April 26th: Foundation of the socialist party SFIO (French Section of the International worker) under the direction of Jean Jaurès, which unifies the various socialist parties.
- May 13rd: beginnings of Subdued Hari with Paris.
- June 6th: Resignation of the Foreign Minister, Theophilus Delcassé, which refuses the meeting of an International Conference on Morocco. Maurice Rouvier, president of the Council, replaces it.
- June 16th: Inauguration of the railway line Paris - Nice by the company PLM.
- June 29th: The work of the underground workers is limited to 8 a.m. per day in the mines.
- July 3rd: Law of separation of the Churches and the State: the State guarantees the freedom of conscience and of worship but none of them subsidizes. The goods of the congregations will be, after inventory, reserved for new pertaining to worship associations (law ratified by the senate the November 11th).
- July 4th: Rupture of the diplomatic relations with the the Vatican.
- July 8th: Agreement between France and Germany on the convocation of an International Conference on the Morocco.
- July 13rd: Foundation of the first federation of the trade unions of teachers. Obligatory assistance with the old men, disabled person, incurable.
- October: Charter of Amiens: the CGT obtains a political program.
- November 3rd: The radical Edouard Herriot is elected mayor of Lyon.
- November 28th: Inauguration of the Mosque Noor-E-Islam with Saint-Denis of the Meeting, the first ever built on the ground French.
- December 9th: Law on the separation of the Church and the State in France (see also Secularity in France).
- At the end of 1905, France counts 21 523 cars. The department of the the Seine has the greatest number of cars: 4 627. The the Gironde has only 342 cars.
- 26,3% of the workmen works in residence. The factories of more than 100 paid gather 24,3% of the workmen.
- Publication of the Value of Science of Henri Poincaré, Polytechnicien.
