Events

  • February: Inauguration of the public telephones in the principal Parisian stations.
  • March 24th: Publication of the census in France which counts 38  962  000 inhabitants in the Hexagon.
  • In May, foundation of democratic republican Alliance.
  • 21 - June 23rd: Congress founder of the Radical party French, the Republican party, radical and radical socialist, first Political party created in France.
  • June 30th: Creation of the Union Socialist-revolutionist (left working French Jules Guesde, left Socialist-revolutionist Valiant Edouard, communist Alliance) to fight the ministerialism preached by the Socialists reformists.
  • July 1st: Law of July 1st, 1901 relating to the contract of association, first stage towards the separation of the Church and the State, (see Association law 1901) which involves the dissolution of hundreds of religious congregations. Expulsion of the Jesuits.
  • July 8th: in France, the speed of the Automobile S is limited to 10 km/H
  • September 13rd: Decree of law instituting the registration of the vehicles rolling to more than 30 km/h.

  • Law on the death taxes.
  • First telegraphic connection without wire with Corsica.
  • First motor-show.
