1 {{er}} January. the United States: Creation of the Pere Inlays Railroad in the area of the Big lakes by fusion of the Flint and Pere Inlays Railway Company, of the Detroit, Lansing and Northern Railroad and of the Chicago and West Michigan Railroad.
- July 13rd. France: with Paris, brought into service of the Funicular of Montmartre.
- July 19th. France: brought into service of the first line (line 1) of the subway of Paris between Door of Vincennes and Door Shirt, with only 8 stations, the others being brought into service enters the August 6th and the 1 {{er}} September.
- July 29th. Canada: End of work of the White Not & Yukon Railroad between Skagway and Whitehorse.
- August 6th. France: opening of the stations Châtelet and Saint-Paul of the Line 1 of the subway of Paris.
- August 13rd. France: opening of the stations Alma and Harmony of the Line 1 of the subway of Paris.
- August 20th. France: opening of the stations Louvre and Reuilly of the Line 1 of the subway of Paris.
- August 30th. France: opening of the railway line of Pleasure-Oil cake with Épône-Wall (Yvelines).
- 1 {{er}} September. France: opening of the stations Obligado and Star of the Line 1 of the subway of Paris.
- 1 {{er}} October. Swiss: first meeting of the Board of directors of the Swiss federal railroads.
- October 2nd. France: opening of the “junction” of the Line 1 of the Parisian subway Star - Trocadéro, which will become later the western end of the line 6
