Events

February 16th: Died of the president Felix Faure
February 18th: Emile Loubet president of the Republic, succeeds Felix Faure. He is co-opted by defect by the radicals and the Socialists, who it preferred with Jules Méline, judged not enough anticlerical. He passes for the man of the left to the eyes of the nationalists. Anonymous leaflets designate it as “elected official of the Jews”, because it supports Alfred Dreyfus (fine of its presidency in 1906).
February 23rd: Paul Déroulède, chief of the League of the Patriots, antidreyfusard, tries a coup d'etat.
February 25th: Official creation of the company Renault, manufacturer of cars.
Mars: The French give up any domination on the the Nile after the business of Fachoda.
June 22nd: The radical Waldeck-Rousseau, elected by the republican Block, becomes president of the Council (fine in 1902).
July: Henri Vaugeois founds the French Action.
August 9th: The general Gallieni, general governor of Madagascar is promoted Major general.
December 14th: Law of amnesty for all the facts relating to the Dreyfus business.
December: The first socialist congress of 1452 organizations tackles the question of the participation in the government: Jules Guesde is against, Jean Jaurès for.

June 3rd: Stop of revision: Dreyfus is returned in front of the Conseil of war of Rennes.
June 5th: Emile Zola returns in France.
July 1st: Return of Dreyfus in France.
July 18th: the Morning publishes a consent of Esterhazy.
August 8th: Second Dreyfus lawsuit with Rennes.
September 9th: Second Dreyfus lawsuit: he is again condemned, this time at ten years of reclusion.
September 19th: Pardoned Loubet Dreyfus, the same day dies Auguste Scheurer-Kestner.
