- May 4th: Set fire to Bazar of Charity (Paris), caused by the projector of Mr. Normandin. 129 deaths belonging, for the majority, with the nobility of the time, of which the duchess of Alençon, sister of the empress of Austria. The catastrophe failed to be fatal with the emergent industry from the cinema.
