May 1st - Sir Charles Tupper becomes Prime Minister, substitute Sir Mackenzie Bowell.
June 23rd - Canadian Federal election of 1896. The liberal party carried out by Wilfrid Laurier gains the elections. The Question of the schools of Manitoba was a stake of this election.
