- January 18th: Ontarian General election of 1875. The liberal party of Oliver Mowat gains one second majority.
- April 10th: establishment of Strong Calgary.
- May 11th: Philip Carteret Hill becomes Prime Minister of Nova Scotia.
- July 7th: Québécois General election of 1875. Charles-Eugene Boucher of Boucherville (preserving) is re-elected Prime Minister with the Quebec.
Justice
- January: Louis Riel is amnestied on the condition of being banished for 5 years.
- April 8th: Creation of the Supreme court of Canada.
- September 2nd: the Affaire Guibord ends.
Sport
Economy
- June 1st: Beginning of the construction of the railroad the Canadian Pacific.
- Foundation of the imperial Bank of Canada. It is one of the two banks which amalgamated to form the Imperial Canadian Banque of Trade.
Science
- Jennie Kidd Trout becomes the first woman to practice medicine in Canada legally.
- Opening of the hospital for ill children of Toronto.
