March 21st: Ontarian General election of 1871.
July 6th: Québécois General election of 1871. The conservatives of Pierre-Joseph-Olivier Chauveau obtain a majority government.
July 20th: The Colombia-British adheres to the Canadian Confederation .
August 3rd: Signature of the Treated 1 between the queen and the Chippewa tribes and Cries of Manitoba.
August 21st: Signature of the Treated 2 between the queen and the Ojibwé S of the west of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
November 13rd: John Foster McCreight becomes Prime Minister of Colombia-British.
December 14th: Marc-Amable Girard becomes Prime Minister of Manitoba.

April 2nd: Publication of the census in Canada: 3,690 million British inhabitants including 2,110 million of origin and 1,083 million French origin. Canadian Recensement of 1871

July 1st: Inauguration of the library of the Parliament with Ottawa.
November 11th: Foundation of the Platform of the press of the Parliament of Quebec.

September 22nd: The diocese of Saint-Boniface becomes the Archidiocèse of Saint-Boniface in Manitoba.

March 1st, Robert Nelson, patriotic chief in 1838.
September 23rd, Louis-Joseph Papineau, chief of the patriotic party at the time of the rebellion of 1837.
