May 10th: to the the United States, junction with Promontory Point (Utah) of the first transcontinental Railroad enters the companies Central Pacific, started from Sacramento (California) and Union Pacific coming from Omaha (Iowa).
May 15th. the United States. California: opening of the section Sacramento - Galt of the line of Sacramento with Oakland (Central Pacific)
May 31st. France: inauguration of the section Auch - Mirande of the railroad of Agen with Tarbes (Company of the South)
