February 4th: The poet Charles Baudelaire makes a fall at the time of his visit to the church Saint-Wolf with Namur in Belgium, first gravely hurt towards the general paralysis.
- July 1st: Baudelaire is brought back from Belgium to Paris by Mrs. Aupick and the painter Alfred Stevens. The crippled poet is allowed at the private hospital of Dr. Duval.
