April 8th. The Boat Race between the university teams of Oxford and Cambridge. Oxford is essential.
July 28th. University regatta between Harvard and Yale. Yale is essential.

Baseball

November 6th . The Brooklyn Atlantics gain the 9th championship of baseball of NABBP with 18 victories and any defeat. The great final opposes Atlantics and the New York Mutuals in front of 20.000 spectators.
September 28th . First case of matches faked in American baseball. Three players had accepted money to lose; They are erased, then reinstated respectively in 1867,1869 and 1870.

Cricket

the Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is crowned champion of cricket in England.

Football

Foundation of the English football club of Nottingham Forest.

Golf

Andrew Srath gains the British Open of Golf to Prestwick.

Olympic Games

Greek royal Decree of 17 articles regulating the Olympic Games of Zappas. Article 5 gives the program of the tests: race of two stages, triple jump, long jump without dash, fight upright and with ground, throwing the discus, throwing the javelin, jump to the pole, twists smooth, test of swimming and regattas nautical.
