April 3rd. The Boat Race between the university teams of Oxford and Cambridge. Oxford is essential.
August 3rd. First university regatta between Harvard and Yale. Harvard is essential two lengths.

Following the gold rush Californian which begins in 1849, number of New York board, whose Alexander Cartwright, settles with San Francisco, introducing the baseball (the New York Game) and the Cricket. In 1852, “serious” parts are already announced there.

the play of croquet is introduced in Ireland from where it gains then England. Certain historians call into question this event, even if Ireland plays a determining role incontestably. Mr. Spatt would have received as of 1840 a complete set of play of McNaughten Miss before yielding it, of the years later, with Mr. Jacques, founder of a dynasty of manufacturer of play of croquet. At the time of the gift of McNaughten Miss, the latter would have specified to have seen this play practiced in Italy and in the South of the France.
