September 27th: Jean-François Champollion exposes in front of the Académie of the inscriptions and the humanities its work of deciphering of the hieroglyphic writing . It is able to decipher the hiéroglyphes thanks to the Pierre de Rosette (see also: Letter with Mr. Dacier).
