July 9th: The Academy of Dijon crown the Speech on sciences and arts of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, which will be published in January of the following year.

Voltaire, which has maintained a correspondence with Frederic II Prussia for several years, goes near him to Berlin. It remains there until in 1753.
Malesherbes, appointed president of the Court of the assistances and director of the bookstore (1750-1771) contributes to found the Freedom of the press in France.
