- April 21st: The Daimyô , Asano Naganori, is condemned by the Shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi to the ritual suicide ( Seppuku ) to have attacked Kira Yoshinaka (1641-1703), Master of the ceremonies of the house of the shogun, which had insulted it. The 47 rōnin decide to avenge it by killing Kira the December 15th 1702.
