168e regiment of infantry of line

The 168e Régiment of Infanterie (or 168e IH) is a regiment of the French Army.

Creation and various denominations

  • 1913 : 168e Regiment of Infantry
  • 1914 : At the mobilization, it sets up its regiment of reserve, the 368 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry

There does not exist, before 1912, of regiment having carried this number.

From 1871 to 1914

Pursuant to the law of December 23rd, 1912, creating 10 new regiments (from 164 to 173)

First World War

In 1914; Quartering: Toul, extremely of Frouard, affected Regiment to the defense of the fortress of Toul, Constitution in 1914:3 battalions

Brigade activates of Toul (seven. - Dec.) (?)

  • 128 {{E}} division of infantry of June 1915 in November 1918

1914

1915

  • Woëvre (janv. - June): wood the Priest, Cross of the Carmelite friars, sliced of Fey. Quarter in Reserve.
  • Argonne: wood of Gruerie (juil-sept.), Sector of St Thomas, Harazée

1916

  • Lorraine (until June): Reillon, Blémerey, Vezouze

1917

  • In October 1917, a battalion of the 417 {{E}} IH dissolved, joined 168e IH
