January

Thursday January 2nd: Died of the superintendent Vieuville.
January 9th: The bishops and archbishops present in Paris ask that the lawsuit of Retz be entrusted to ecclesiastical judges and that the prisoner is released. The chancellor Séguier gets rid of them.
January 20th: In short of the pope Innocent X claiming with Louis XIV release of Retz.
January 27th: Catch of Vervins.

Sunday February 2nd: Battle of Vervins, Mazarin assists to with it. This battle opens to him the road of Paris.
February 3rd: Mazarin returns triumphantly to Paris. It would have delayed not to be marked to have soaked in the arrest of another cardinal (according to duchess of Nemours). Louis XIV comes to his meeting until the Le Bourget.

May 13rd: Louis XIV states that the meeting of the general states is differed “ jusques so that time (him) makes it possible to hold it peacefully ”.
May 15th: Ithier monk Cordelier, friend of Cosnac, which conspired for the court and against Conti that this one wanted to make drive out Bordeaux, is about to be condemned to death.
