January
- Thursday January 2nd: Died of the superintendent Vieuville.
- January 9th: The bishops and archbishops present in Paris ask that the lawsuit of Retz be entrusted to ecclesiastical judges and that the prisoner is released. The chancellor Séguier gets rid of them.
- January 20th: In short of the pope Innocent X claiming with Louis XIV release of Retz.
- January 27th: Catch of Vervins.
February
- Sunday February 2nd: Battle of Vervins, Mazarin assists to with it. This battle opens to him the road of Paris.
- February 3rd: Mazarin returns triumphantly to Paris. It would have delayed not to be marked to have soaked in the arrest of another cardinal (according to duchess of Nemours). Louis XIV comes to his meeting until the Le Bourget.

- February 27th: The count of the Daugnon, governor of Aunis, makes his peace with the Court. He yields the government of Aunis. In exchange of what it is amnestied, receives 530.000 books and is made duke and marshal.
March
- Tuesday March 25th: The girls of the Blessed Sacrament (nuns of Port-Royal) were established street of the Saint-Jacob suburb initially, initially street Férou (March 25th, 1653); they were transferred street Cassette in 1669.

- April 21st: The ambassador of the king to Rome, Henri d' Etampes, marquis de Valençay (1603-1678), proposes to send the prisoner to Rome, but the royal government refuses (May 16th).
May
- Sunday May 11th: Died of the duke of Duke of Longueville.
- May 13rd: Louis XIV states that the meeting of the general states is differed “ jusques so that time (him) makes it possible to hold it peacefully ”.
- May 15th: Ithier monk Cordelier, friend of Cosnac, which conspired for the court and against Conti that this one wanted to make drive out Bordeaux, is about to be condemned to death. But the day of Notre Dame the court does not sit and the following day, it while condemns it that to perpetuity with the dungeon, the bread and water. In fact, it is saved.
