  • August 8th: The Dutch sailor Piet Hein captures the Spanish fleet of the money which has just left Cuba, in bay of Mantazas.

  • October 2nd: Beginning of the reign of Chongzhen, emperor Ming of China (end in 1644).

  • Beginning of the reign of Shâh Jahân, emperor Moghol (fine in 1658).
    • Khurram (1582-1666) third wire of Jahangir succeeds to him under the name of Shâh Jahân (“King of the World”). It puts at dead all its potential rivals. During its long reign, it follows a policy of conquest in Central Asia and in the Dekkan.

  • :

  • Charles Ier of England, to fill the cases of the State emptied by the war, convenes a new Parliament.   • October 4th: A new English fleet is withdrawn with La Rochelle after an artillery battle.
  • October 28th: Rendering of Rochelais, led by the former admiral Jean Guiton, mayor of the city, after 15 month of seat. The city loses its ramparts and its freedoms but the frankness from the there protesting worship is maintained.
