152e regiment of infantry of line

Called regiment of the Red Devils by the Germans during the combat of the Hartmannswillerkopf in 1915, 152e IH preserved this name of tradition. Having, before all the other receipt in 1918 the Fodder of the Legion of honor, it is also called “first of the regiments of France”.

The regiment is confined with the Walter District with Colmar in the High Rhine, it is regarded as one of the regiments of tradition in Alsace.

152e IH controls the zones within the framework of maintenance missions of peace, helps with the return to the civil life (Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzégovine…).

Creation and different denomination

  • 1794 : Creation of the 152e Half-Brigade of Battle starting from the following units:
    • 2nd battalion of the 82 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry
    • 7th battalion of Volunteers of the Marne
    • 6th battalion of Volunteers of the Low-Rhine
  • 1796: Dissolved and incorporated in the ''' 75 {{E}} Half-Brigade of Infantry of Line '''
  • 1813: 152e Regiment of Infantry of Line starting from the following units:
    • 18th, 19th, 53e and 54e Troops of the National guard
  • 1814: Dissolved
    • 1st and 2nd battalions incorporated in the ''' 85 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry of Line '''
    • 3rd, 4th and 5th battalions incorporated in the ''' 18 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry of Line '''
  • 1914: At the mobilization, it sets up its regiment of reserve, the 352 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry
