The 151e Régiment of Infanterie (or 151e IH) is a regiment of the French Army.

Creation and various denominations

  • 1813 : Creation of the 151e Regiment of Infantry on February 12th. It includes/understands 76 Officers and 2840 troops, and raises of the 5 {{E}} army corps.
  • 1888 : Recreated in on January 25th with Belfort, it is established the same year with Verdun.
  • 1914 : At the mobilization, it sets up its regiment of reserve, the 351 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry
  • 1997: Dissolution on May 25th

Between 1935 and 1937, it is ordered by the Colonel de Lattre de Tassigny.

History of the garrisons, combat and battles of 151e IH of line

Empire

It takes part in the countryside of 1813. At the end of this campaign it counts nothing any more but 70 officers and 1.000 men. The names of Weissig 1813 and Wurschen 1813 are reproduced on its flag. It is dissolved on August 24th, 1814. Colonels killed or wounded by ordering the regiment for this period

First World War

1915

  • Operations in Argonne (May-November): Gruerie, Furnace-of-Paris.
  • Battle of Champagne: Auberive (25 - September 30th).

1916

  • Battle of Verdun: Careers of Haudremont (February), Death-Man (February-April), Battle of the Sum: Rancourt, Sailly - Saillisel (October 6th), wood of Vaast Saint Pierre.

1917

  • Aisne : attacks on Berry-with-Vat (April 16th), Verdun: Wood Thatch (September 8th)

1918

  • Aisne : The Swallow (9 June 12th), Soissons (August 28th), Laffaux (September 5th)

Inter-war period

Second world war

Between the 9 and on June 16th, 1940, it is destroyed in the German offensive of the Marne: 862 men and colonel Dava are killed, that is to say more of the three quarters of manpower.

The regiment is reconstituted on January 13rd, 1945 starting from manpower of the " Fabien" column; to which it Général of Tassigny allots the name of the regiment that it ordered during the inter-war period. Rearmed by the General Patton, it joined thus manpower of the Ire French Army ordered by the Général with Tassigny.

It took part in the countryside of Germany of 1945 what was worth an inscription to him since 1945.

From 1945 to our days

At the conclusion of the Second world war, it is based in Metz. Then as from 1990 in Verdun.

It takes part in the following operations:

- 1947-1950 Indo-China - 1955-1962 Algeria - 1992 Yugoslavia - 1995 Lebanon - 1996 Yugoslavia

Regiment of called, it disappears on May 23rd, 1997.

Feat of arms making particularly honor with the regiment

Campaign of 1813, it gains the inscription on its flag of the battles of Weissig and Wurschen.

From October in December 1914, it fights on the face of Yser what was worth an inscription with its flag to him.

“One does not pass” not gained to verdun. The regiment will have lost 12.000 men of 14 - 18.
