January 1st: The very new hospital of the Old people's homes of Beaune, created on the initiative of Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of the duke of Burgundy Philippe II the Good, and of his wife Saline Guigone, accommodates its first patient.

March 19th: Frederic III of Habsbourg, on the throne of Austria since 1440, is crowned Germanic Roman Emperor. He marries in Rome the infante Eléonore of Portugal, niece of Henri the Navigator (March 16th). He is the last emperor to go to be made crown in Rome by the pope. He confirms the Privilegium majus for the Austria.

February: Moldavie: Alexandre, grandson of Alexandre the Good, drives out Pierre III Aron with the support of the king of Poland. Pierre Aron takes refuge in Transylvania.
- Alexandre II of Moldavie renews the privileges of the town of Braşov (August 12th) and concluded a peace treaty with Jean Hunyadi (February 16th 1453). In front of the pressure of large Boyards, it also pays homage to the king de Pologne (October 6th 1453).

June 26th: Gemiste Pléthon, Byzantine philosopher. Like Plato, he thinks that the philosopher must analyze and reform the human society. In “ the Laws ”, he proposes a complete recasting of the economy, social structure and political system, while passing by the return to a kind of natural Communism by the ways of ancient paganism.
