13th regiment of hunters with horse
The 13th Régiment of hunters to horse is a regiment made up under the French revolution under the name of Légion of the Americans also called at the time Légion of Saint-Georges of the name of his commander.
Creation and various denominations
- September 7th 1792: Creation of a frank Legion made of volunteers of the Antilles and African Counter S being presented in front of the legislative Parliament, named legion of the Americans and the South . Its manpower envisaged are of 800 hunters to foot and 200 hunters with horse.
- December 6th 1792: the American hussards (one their nicknames) are definitively a unit of hunters with horse: the 800 hunters with foot could not be recruited.
- February 21st 1793: 13th regiment of hunters with horse (at this time, the future 14 {{E}} regiment of hunters with horse carries also number 13)
- March 1794: the 1st company transferred to Brest and which could not leave for Saint-Domingue is joined together at the squadrons of the Légion of North, from the dragon S of the Mountain and the national Cavalerie, under the name of 13th (a) regiment of hunters with horse
- 1795: fusion of 13th and 13th (a) in only one regiment.

Wars of the Revolution and the Empire

September 1792: Formation with Paris
- November 1792: Organization with Amiens
- February 1793: Quartering with Laon
- March 1793: a Escadron of 75 men follows the army of Dumouriez
- May 1793: the deposit of the regiment is fixed at Béthune. The unit is with Lille (effective: 559 men)
- April 22nd, 1793: 1st company (84 men) transferred to Brest to be embarked bound for Santo Domingo there. A delegation is sent to Paris and the national Convention takes a decree on June 13rd per which these men cannot be employed with the colonies. They are placed at the disposal of Jean-Baptiste Carrier. They operate in the Vendée (Guerre of the Vendée) where they are pointed out by their violence and their exactions.
