Current mission

Today based with Dieuze (the Moselle) and named 13th regiment of dragons parachutists (13th RDP), is a unit specialized in in-depth human information, with the profit of the various staffs (CEMA, CEMAT, COS).

Its missions consist in acquiring the information, in any time and any place, by means of small autonomous and discrete units, able to position closest it information to acquire, and to transmit it. For this kind of mission, the units of the 13th RDP practice what they call of the " masks " , i.e. operations of camouflage of places of life intended for the observation, transmission, the hiding place to allow a shooting of the ground. Men of the 13th RDP are Chuteurs operational: they are able to be released with very high-altitude and long distance from their target. They intervene in uniform and armed but for them the use of the weapon is sign of failure, since discretion is of rigor. There exists in the regiment several types of specialization for the infiltration is by watery ways (with Combinaison dries), in mountain or covered with snow medium, in the desert by air dropping with very high-altitude.

Since July 2002, the regiment is integrated into the Brigade of the special forces ground (BFST) of the Commandement of special operations (COS).

Its articulation is the following one:

  • 1 basic squadron and of specialized instruction (1st squadron);
  • 4 airborne squadrons of research, setting up the research teams (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th squadrons);
  • 1 squadron of transmissions (6th squadron);
  • 1 squadron of reserve (7th squadron);
  • ECL - squadron of command and logistics;
  • EAS - squadron of administration and support.

he is the only regiment of research of the information behind the enemy lines and the only one to receive missions of the strategic level.

Its armament is more complete and allows him to face all types of missions.

Currency

Beyond possible the " Nunc Leo, Nunc Aquila" (sometimes lion, sometimes eagle)

Traditional Song of the 13th RDP: a spirit of tradition

We are downward proud dragons
Of the Empress, our squadrons
winners with Austerlitz, has Iéna, Moskova
One makes the impossible one and go still well to the delà

Like our griffon
In turn eagle and lion
We are soldiers of the sky and the terre
Parachutist a soir
Commando the lendemain
Weapons with the hand to follow our destin
We will fight a jour
For the honor and the amour
Freedom of the patrie

We are downward proud dragons
Of the Empress, our squadrons
winners with Austerlitz, has Iéna, Moskova
One makes the impossible one and go still well to the delà

These loads that one empoigne
Become our compagnes
When we leave during the night towards the inconnu
To disappear in the bois
The mission making foi
In the rain, the wind, we remain with the affût
It is that our destin
It is of living in clandestin
Silence, discretion, it is our goal.
