Events

March 16th: Edouard de Woodstock, the future black Prince, becomes duke of Cornouailles. He becomes the first duke in England.
Beginning of the War One hundred Year old:

May 24th: The king of France Philippe VI of Valois, for obscure reasons, takes again Bordeaux and the Guyenne with Edouard III, king of England, for which this last had paid homage to him.
October 7th: Edouard III, king of England, denounces the homage lent to Philippe VI of Valois and asserts the crown of France (he is the grandson of Philippe Beautiful the by his mother Isabelle de France).
November 1st: The king of England Edouard III lance a challenge with the King de France Philippe VI of Valois: It is the true beginning of the Guerre One hundred Year old (1337 - 1453) between France and England.
Edouard III wishes to obtain in full sovereignty the possession of Aquitaine, which the king of France cannot accept because it would leave its kingdom then. Edouard III is also thorough to enter in war to protect Flemish the clothiers cities, on which France with aimings, and which are the principal market of English wools.

Revolution in Flanders carried out by Jacob Van Artevelde following the English embargo on the wools (end in 1345). The count de Nevers is driven out in 1338.
