- August 15th: Second unfruitful attempt at invas ion of the Japan by the Mongolian . Their fleet is destroyed by the divine wind ( kami kaze ) of the storm.
- After the defeat of 1274, Kubilaï had not been satisfied to make carry out the Japanese emissary and to expose their heads on the public place, it had quickly launched the construction of a news armada. It is presented like the most important fleet before the XXe century.
- As seven years before it started from Korea and occupied the islands of the south of Japan, obtaining some advantages. However from small Japanese boats went to set fire to some large ships located in periphery of the fleet.
- 45 000 Mongolian soldiers and 120 000 Koreans and Chinese unload in the islands Kyushu, Hirado and Takashima. The Mongolian forces can tear off only one unimportant victory against the Japanese who defend themselves with eagerness. A typhoon would have dispersed the Mongolian fleet in bay of Hataka, near Fukuoka (August 15th) and the invaders are exterminated until the last.
- Plus of 4000 ships ran and 130 000 Mongolian and Korean perished. Japan, still today, venerates this " wind divin" who had thus protected them.
