126e regiment of infantry of line
The 126e Régiment of Infanterie of line (or 126e IH) is a regiment made up under the First Empire.
Creation and various denominations
- 1795 : creation of the 126e Half-brigade of Battle , starting from the 2nd battalion of the 62 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry, amalgamated with the 2nd battalion of volunteers of the Ain and the 3rd battalion of volunteers of the Nievre.
- 1796 : poured in the 99 {{E}} Half-brigade of Infantry of Line
- 1810: creation of the 126e regiment of infantry of line starting from the 5 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry and of the 1st battalion of the 8 {{E}} Regiment of Infantry, of the kingdom of Holland, at the time of the annexation of this one.

Organization
Regiment of motorized infantry, the 126e regiment of infantry has capacities of investigation and information. Flexible, mobile, transportable by air and héliportable, it gives all its measure to the check operations of medium and close combat. It is involved with the operations of maintenance of peace.
Composition:

1 company of command and logistics (CCL);
- 1 company of administration and support (CASE);
- 4 companies of combat;
- 1 company of lighting and support (ECA) with two sections anti-tank device (HOT and Milan), a regimental section of recognition (SRR) and a section of marksmen (CO.) long distances;
- 1 unit of reserve of professional regiment (URRP);
that is to say a total of 1.100 men and women.
