Asia

  • Annexation of the Tibet by Mongolian Ouriyang-daï starting from the Yunnan (fine in 1256). It meets only little resistance.

The Middle East

  • Beginning of the reign of Houlagou Khan, founder of the dynasty of Persian Ilkhans of (until in 1265).
  • December 15th: In accordance with the order which it received from Möngke, Hulagu qan takes Alamut (disappearance of the Secte of the Assassins of the ismaïlien Mazandéran).
  • War of Saint-Sabas (of the name of the monastery of Acre that the two parts dispute), of 1256 with 1258, between Génois (supported by Philippe de Montfort and the Hospitaliers) and the Venetian ones (supported by the count of Jaffa and the Templiers). The naval war continues with knacks of Venetian against Tyr, of Génois against Acre, until an final agreement concluded by the mediation from Louis IX in 1270. Pisa remains in war against Genoa until in 1288. With Tripoli, Bohémond VI must fight at the same time the vassal Templiers and its génois, the Embriaci, lords of Gibelet.

Europe

  • January 28th: Failure and died of the emperor Guillaume II, count of Holland in its attempt to put forward its sovereignty on the Plank. Its successor Floris V will manage to ensure his capacity in Western Plank, then separated from the remainder of the province by the opening of the Zuiderzee. He also conquers, with depends on Utrecht, the area of the Amstel and gives its first privilege to Amsterdam.
  • May 4th: Bubble of the pope Alexandre IV constituting the order of the Hermits of Saint Augustin.
  • September 24th: Louis IX rule succession of Flanders by the known as of Fibula.
  • Jordan de Rosans and Dragonnet de Montauban besieges Montalin de Bruis in Rosans. The war ends in a treaty made by the mediation of the Dolphin of the Viennese and the bishop of Gap the December 25th, with Montalis de Bruix.

  • Conflict with the Church with the Denmark. Civil war in all the country (fine in 1274).

  • Scripta super libros sententiarum (Comments of the Sentences) of Thomas d' Aquin, commenting on Sententiarum libri quartet (Four Books of Sentences) of Pierre Lombard. Thomas d' Aquin obtains his doctorate in Théologie and is named professor of Philosophie to the Université of Paris.
  • By taking Alamut, the Mongolian cause the destruction of a library of a priceless value, making difficult forever the thorough knowledge of the doctrines and the activities of the Secte of the Assassins. After the catch of Alamut, the sect of the Assassins remains in a peaceful form: the Ismaïliens, followers of the Aga Khan.
