- January: Sverri, king of Norway, demolishes the to baglir , in favor of the bishops, with Tönsberg. He becomes only king de Norvège (fine in 1202). End of the period of anarchy in Norway (1030 -1201).
- May 30th: Thibaud IV, count of Champagne (fine in 1253). Regency of his/her White mother of Navarre. The Champagne is put under the supervision of the king of France.
- July: The pope Innocent III legitimates Philippe Hurepel de Clermont, wire of Philippe II Auguste, king de France, and of Agnès de Méranie.
- November 7th: Guillaume III of Ponthieu, ninth count de Ponthieu, married to the sister of the King de France Philippe II Auguste, Alix, grants to Ponthoile a charter guaranteeing communal freedoms, inspired by the charter of Abbeville of 1184, which was used as model with the development of almost all the other charters of the Ponthieu.
