11th regiment of hunters with horse

The 11th regiment of hunter with horse was stationed with Berlin with the Quartier Napoleon until 1994.

History

1762 - foreign volunteers, mixed troops of cavalry and infantrymen are raised by the marshal of Soubise.
1763 - They form a legion with four squadrons.
1788 - Under the impulse of the Count de Brienne, the hunters of Gévaudan, create in 1779 by meetings of the squadrons of the legion Soubise take the title of hunters of Normandy and become the 11th regiment of hunters with Cheval.
1781 with 1815 - the 11th regiment of hunters with Cheval takes part almost without interruptions in all the campaigns of the Revolution and the Empire.

1812 - With the Large army it covers glory with the Moskowa.
1815 - Waterloo which marks the final end of the Empire. To the glare of the Napoleonean epopee will succeed the less glorious era of the garrison life.

1861 with 1865 - the 11th regiment of hunters with horse finds the way of the combat and fights in Algérie, with the avant-garde of the columns Martineau and Lapasset-Deligny.
1870 - Escaping the disaster from Sedan, the regiment beats a retreat, loses the three quarters of its manpower and is restored with Avignon.
1914 - As of the August 3rd it is in contact with the enemy. It enters the first occupied Mulhouse.
1916 - Verdun and the Sum.
1917 - the way of the Ladies - the Champagne.
1919 - Aachen which it occupies, the 11th regiment of hunters with horse receives the Fourragère with the colors of the Military Cross. It went “to the feeding trough of the Rhine”, thus carrying out the wish, old man one half-century old of the French cavalry. It then joined as a winner his good garrison of Vesoul.
Second world war

the Regiment, burst in four groups of recognition, tries vainly, at the price of heavy sacrifices to be opposed to the enemy.
1944 - During the countryside of the Release, it is given on foot, enters in Germany and occupies the Palatinat until the April 30th 1947.
April 30th 1947 - Dissolution.
