  • March 27th: Beginning of the reign of Thamar Anger of Georgia with died of Georges III. Apogee of the kingdom of Georgia under the reign of the queen Thamar (fine in 1213). It pushes its armies until Trébizonde, extending its kingdom of the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea and of the the Caucasus to the Azerbaïdjan, and is at the origin of a true cultural rebirth.

Europe

  • October 29th: The emperor Frederic Barberousse promises in marriage his son, the future Henri VI with the heiress of the Sicily, Constance, girl of Guillaume II of Sicily to Mainz, known as Pentecost de Barberousse (marriage celebrated the January 27th 1186).
  • November: A pontifical Bubble of Lucius III, AD aboldendam condemns the various forms of Hérésie: Cathares, Of Vaud, Patarins, etc
    • the Lucius pope takes refuge with Vérone vis-a-vis the commune of Rome. It joins together there a council which condemns the néo-Manicheans (Cathares) against which it institutes the episcopal Inquisition. The Lyons preacher Pierre Valdès is excommunicated. He however continues to preach by accentuating his hostility with the catholic hierarchy. Part of the Vaudois is established in the South of France, is opposed to the Cathares and will be recovered by preaching of Saint Dominique. Another fraction passes to Italy then to Central Europe and will be pursued by the ecclesiastical authority.
  • Obtaining the charter of city by Abbeville.

  • Philippe Auguste, king de France, creates the body of the Baillif S.
  • Robert I {{er}} of Dreux yields the Comté of Dreux to his/her son Robert II.
  • Transfer of Montargis to king de France.
