4 - April 11th: The IIe council of Lateran puts an end to the pontifical schism (Anaclet), condemns the Usure, the Simonie and the Tournoi S. He proclaims that “ Rome is the head of the world ” and launches an anathema against the employers of principal rafters.
- July 25th: Afonso Henriques of Portugal, Alphonse Ier, wire of Henri of Burgundy overcomes the Moslems with the Bataille of Ourique, is declared independent of the Royaume of León and takes the title of king of Portugal. It is the birth of the independent Portugal.
- July 27th: Roger II founds the kingdom of Sicily, which also includes/understands Naples, to the treaty of Miniano.
- Marriage of Robert Ier de Dreux with Agnes de Garlande.
Eastern Europe
- February 18th: Beginning of a new crisis of succession with Kiev (fine in 1146). Vsevolod II Olegovitch évince of the throne Viatcheslav Ier. A conflict starts between the descendants of Sviatoslav Ier and those of Vladimir II Monomaque.

Ladislas II (1102-1166) becomes duke of Poland (fine in 1146). It reigns on the Silesia, the Small-Poland of Cracow and the Poméranie of Gdańsk. His/her brothers share the remainder of Poland.
