- Ismaël, wire of Bouri, succeeds his/her father like Atabey of Damas at the 19 years age. It seizes by surprised the fortress Baniyas, that the Assassins had delivered to the Francs three years earlier (December). Foulque V of Anjou is then occupied gathering its troops to re-occupy Jaffa, with the hands of Hugues of Puiset.

Died of the sultan saljûqide Mahmud II with old 26 years. A new war of succession bursts. The Abbasid caliph Al-Mustarchid Bi-llah, promising with each applicant to make the prayer in the mosques on his behalf, becomes the true referee of the situation. The atabek of Mosul Zanki walk then on Baghdad, but is crushed close to Tikrit, on the Tigre, in the north of the capital by the troops of the caliph. Zanki is saved of accuracy of the capture thanks to the governor of Tikrit, Najm AD-DIN Ayyub, a young Kurdish officer which makes him cross the river. It can regain Mosul with haste.
