- Marbode, Breton writer, bishop of Rennes
- Omar Khayyâm, scientist and Persan poet (Nishapur, v. 1050 - v. 1123), known of alive sound for its philosophical and scientific writings. He writes a treaty of Algèbre (he solves the cubic equations), reform the Persan calendar at the request of the sultan Malik Shah Ier. Later, it acquires the famous one thanks to its pessimistic poems, skeptics and often blasphématoires.
