  • the Turks Seldjoukides under the orders of Alp Arslan make the conquest of the Arménie and shave the capital Ani, whose population is massacred. The Arménie NS disperse. Only the Armenian kingdom of Lori remains independent during more than one century.

  • Pilgrimage out of Holy Land of the German bishop Günter de Bamberg. Thousands of people follow armed forwarding.

  • Harold II, count of Wessex, fails on the Normandes coasts and is made prisoner by Guillaume of Normandy. He gains his freedom while swearing to support the candidature of Guillaume for the throne of England.

  • the Oghouzes, driven out southernmost Russia by the Coumans, invade the Balkans, are spread in Macedonia and Thrace until in Greece. They are then decimated by the plague. The Byzantines install the survivors in Macedonia and enlist them in the army at the sides of Petchenègues.
