- January 1st: Saint Hugues becomes the abbot and general of the Ordre of Cluny.
- February 2nd: Bruno d' Eguisheim-Dagsburg, named by the emperor Henri III known as '' Henri the Black '', in December 1048, is elected Pape by the people of Rome, becoming the 152e pope of the Catholic church, under the name of Leon IX.
- February 12th: Beginning of the Pontificate of saint Leon IX (fine in 1054).
- September 18th: Demolished Byzantine army , directed by Liparit, in the plain of Pasin, in front of that of the Turks Seldjoukides, directed by Ýbrahim Yýnall, general governor of Azerbaïdjan, and Kutalmış Bey, obeying the orders of the sultan seldjoukide Tuğrul Bey, who made 100 000 prisoners and recovered 15 000 cart-loads of spoils.
