  • May 22nd: the Turks Ghaznévides are overcome with Dandãnqãn, in the north of Merv by the Saljûqides which occupy the Khorasan. Tchagri-Beg (1040 - 1058) then his/her son Alp-Arslan remains in Khorasan while Toghrul-Beg share with the conquest of the Iran of the Iraq (fine in 1058).

  • Harald Haardraade, future king of Norway after a stay with Novgorod and Constantinople, seizes Athens (1040); it takes part in the repression of the Bulgarian revolt of Pierre Deljan.
  • Henri III the Black gives the the Tyrol to the bishops of Thirty which will leave the capacity to the 13th century with the Antech, counts of Eppen.
