- June 4th: Beginning of the reign of Henri III the Black, Germanic Roman Emperor (fine in 1056). Authoritative, he fights against feudality and enjoys a great capacity;
- Reign of Gruffydd ap Llywelyn, king of Gwynnedd (Wales);
- Jean Gualbert of Florence creates the monastery of Vallombreuse in Toscane;
- Bretislav Ier of Bohemia invades the Poland.
- effective Reign of Casimir Ier Renovating the (1015 - 1058), duke of Poland (fine in 1058):
- Casimir restores his capacity in Poland with the assistance of his/her uncle Hermann III von Hochstaden, archbishop of Cologne, and lords Germanic. The Large-Poland of Gniezno - Poznań recognizes it like duke, but the Mazovie resists until in 1047. Poland finds its unit but Casimir must accept the control increasingly more important of the aristocracy and recognize his dependence with regard to the emperor Henri III. He pays a tribute with the Bohemia for the possession of the Silesia and loses the Poméranie.

- March 10th: Eudes of Poitiers;
- Alhazen ( Ibn Al-Haytham ), scientist, mathematician, philosopher and Arab doctor in Cairo (born in 965), author of a treaty of optics where he studies the phenomena of reflection and refraction. It is the first to advance the idea that the celestial bodies emit their own heat.
