  • April 30th: Beginning of the reign of Mas' ud, sultan ghaznavide of Ghaznî (fine in 1040):
    • With died of Mahmûd de Ghaznî, its empire includes/understands the Afghanistan, the Khorasan, the Perse, the Panjab and part of the Sind. His/her son Mas' ud succeeds and continues his policy of raids to him.

  • February: Mieszko II of Poland plunders the area between the Saale and the Elba, attacker and setting fire to hundreds of villages.
  • July 29th:
    • Victoire of the English and the Danes to the Battle of Stiklestad on Olaf Haraldsson of Norway which tried to reconquer its kingdom. Olaf is killed. It opens one period of anarchy in Norway until in 1201. Olaf will quickly be recognized like a saint, and the christianization of the Norwegians is acquired;
    • Knut II Large the names his/her son Sven king of Norway (fine in 1035).
    • Harald Haardraade, half-brother of Saint Olaf, future king de Norvège remains with Novgorod (it takes part in the countryside of Poland in 1031), with Constantinople (1034), then seizes Athens as mercenary varègue (1040).
