Heresy of Orleans: At the end of December, to Orleans, of the canons are condemned to roughing-hew for heresy.
- Several texts and chronicles of the XIe century report that in 1022 a dozen most pious among the canons of the cathedral of Orleans, royal city, were burned like heretics on order of the capétien Robert the Piles. It is a question of the first of roughing-hew medieval Christendom. According to certain texts, the condemned canons would have devoted themselves to various practices of vice and sorcery; according to others, they professed a theology docetist and baptized by laying on of hands. Even if a political coloring some surrounds the execution of the twelve prelates, it is trying to see in them, as in their contemporaries, the heretics of Monforte, a prefiguration of the cathares of XIIe century
