One can observe that there was an attempt at classification in the titles of the albums as in the original collections. On the other hand, the pagination was not respected at all (not more than in the Semic version besides).
To note
For exits 12 to 14 and 26, parts are in French in the original text.A short history is appeared in the third volume of Winter' S Edge (collection of short stories of Vertigo). It is included in the first collection of 100 Bullets for the original version and in the second for the V.F. (Semic).
The authors envisaged to carry out the series 100 Bullets in 100 exits.
If the authors preserve the rate/rhythm, the series should finish in the United States at the beginning of 2009, that is to say a publication which will have lasted 10 years.
The 50e resulting, which is with half of the history, corresponds to the 25e chapter. One can thus imagine that the series supplements will be cut out into 50 story arc.
It would seem that the 100 exits is gathered in 13 collections, quantifies which has a certain importance in the history.
The series should count approximately 2220 pages (with the 86e resulting there are already 1911 drawn boards).
The titles of the American collections follow classification with a pun on the title of the album and the figure of this album:
-
Collection n° I: First Shot, Last Cal ( First => first )
- Collection n° II: Split Second Chance ( Second => second )
- Recueil n° III, entitled Hang Up One The Hang Low , which contains 5 exits, was to contain some more. This history having been preceded with the Eisner Award S, the editor left it in a smaller collection and changing the title envisaged by Brian Azzarello. The initial title having to be: The Charm (in reference to the expression The Third is the Charm (“Never two without three”) ( Third => third )
- Collection n° IV: The Drills gone Tomorrow ( Fore => furnace => four )
- Recueil n° V: The Counter' fifth' Detective ( fifth => fifth : pun with counterfeit : counterfeit)
- Collection n° VI: Six Feet Under the Gun ( Six => six : variation around the expression six feet under : six feet under Ground)
- Collection n° VII: Samurai (Allusion to the film the ''' Seven ''' Samurais of Akira Kurosawa)
- Collection n° VIII: The Hard Way (It is an expression with the Craps when two dice have the same value. It is said that one has a “Hardware Eight ” ( Eight => eight ) when one obtains one 8 with two dice of 4)
- Recueil n° IX: Strych' nine' Lives ( nine => nine , pun on Strychnin (poison) and “nine lives”)
- Collection n°X: Decaf yed ( Decaf => ten , pun with the verb decay : decline, to rot)
- Collection n°XI: Once Upon has Crime (Here the pun is not to seek with English, where ounce corresponds to “once”, but with Spanish where the word means eleven )
Exit 51 to 58 are entitled Wylie runs the Voodoo Down and occur to La Nouvelle-Orléans, cradle of the Jazz, with for character a tragedy and brilliant trumpet player. This title is a reference to Miles runs the Voodoo Down , a piece extracted the famous album Bitches Brew of Miles Davis.
Derivative products
D3Publisher and Warner Bros. (of the group Time Warner cd. Comics forms part) repurchased the rights of 100 Bullets to make a video game of it.The play was to be developed by the company Acclaim, but this one went bankrupt little before the coming out date envisaged (October 2004). It should finally appear during 2007 on the consoles DS, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and on PC. The versions PS2 and Xbox have, seems it, be abandoned.
Brian Azzarello would have taken part in the realization (rewriting of the scenario and adaptation of the dialogs).
