the 1001 nights is a French film of Philippe de Broca left in 1990.
Synopsis
With Baghdad, the king has eyes only for his queen, which grains her advisers and his top dog, because it forsakes his harem. The top dog thus makes accept the king that his wife misleads it, but the king, out of rage, kills it.
On the councils of his top dog, the king thus decides that it will take a new queen each day and will make it decapitate after its wedding night. He also decides that its first decapitated queen would be the girl even of the top dog. This one replaces his/her daughter by a slave bought on a market: Shéhérazade.
But at the time when the torturer will cut down his axe, its two sons require of Shéhérazade to tell them its history, and it will tell how it became his wife, and its meetings with Aladdin, Sinbad, and Genius…
