050 TQ

The 050 TQ are locomotive with vapor unified the SNCF brought into service between April 1948 and November 1949. The series was registered 2-050 TQ 1 to 35 because only the Northern area will use these machines.

Service

The deposits of Creil and the Plain touched the first 12 engines in July 1948 and thereafter this list increases with the deposits of: Somain, Fives, Lens and Aulnoye progressively of the deliveries. The new arrivals caused a great movement of machines with:

  • the change of the 050 TX towards the South-eastern area
  • the change of 5 2-050 TE (ex- 4-050 MT 1 to 47 and ex- 4-050 MT 501 to 525 ) of the deposit of the Plain towards those of Calais and Longueau
  • the change of the 2-050 TD? with? of the deposit of Lens towards that of Valencian
  • and the change or the reform of the 140 G assigned to the services of the operations
From 1950 the changes began in the rows of the 050 TQ with the creation of new assignments starting from 1958. Thus one saw appearing these machines with the deposits: Another assignment was creates on August 26th 1968 but in the Persan-Beaumont deposit of outer suburbs of what can surprise for machines of heavy operations!

If the new assignments were create as one sees it until in 1968 the decline however began as of 1963 with the arrivals of the Diesel loco . The series low put fires with the 2-050 TQ 13 and 20 of the deposit of Boulogne on October 20th 1970.

Description

These machines were the last engines-tender of operation brought into service by the SNCF. If the authorization to build these machines were granted as of on August 3rd 1942, the order had placed only on March 11th 1946 near the French company of Mechanical engineering to Denain. This company, in the past Establishments Cail, built the machines according to the plans of the division of the studies of the engines (''' LED ''') which left the 050 MT 1 to 47 and the 050 MT 501 to 525 of the South-western area, deriving themselves from the engines classifies T 16 of the Prussian State.

If the characteristics of the starting machine were preserved improvements nevertheless were brought on the plan of the frame (reinforcement), the increase in capacitées of the compartments and on the visibility in step back. Moreover one used a maximum of unified elements such: the plugs, the door of Smoke-box, etc…. They was machines having an engine with simple expansion with two cylinders and the distribution was of the type “Walschaert”.
