030 Is 3001 to 3014
The Mammouth series 9 numbers 3001 to 3014 are locomotive with vapor built for the Compagnie of the railroads of the East by its workshops located at Épernay in 1895 and 1896 under the directives of Mr. Solomon, chief engineer. In 1938 it remained nothing any more but 9 machines which became the 1-030 B between 1 and 14 with the SNCF.
Service
It was for the time of good machines though lorqu' they left they were already exceeded. Indeed the traction of the goods trains was since spring of the Eight wheel or 040 and the type Consolidation or 140 was not going to be long in appearing on the front of the railway scene. In fact they were assigned to the deposits: Paris the Villette, Noisy-the-Dryness, Vairy and Troyes with for task the light trailer of goods.
The last reformed machine was the 1-030 B 9 in 1951 and because of being the first machines with the tackles of the EAST it was planned for a conservation with the future Museum of the railroad (currently called Cité of the train). Unfortunately this project was without continuation and it is damage because in more they were young people and most powerful of the 030.
Description
These machines laid out of a hearth of the type “Crampton” with narrow grid and of an exhaust with valves. The distribution was interior and of the type “Stephanson” contrary to the 030 Is 1002 to 1005 (future: 1-030 has 2,4 and 5 ). The frame was always external with the axles.
