021 Is 441 to 485
The 021 numbers 441 to 485 were locomotive with vapor built by SACM with Graffenstaden for 25 engine, either the n° 441 to 465 , and Belfort for the remainder of the series, or the n° 465 to 485 , in 1885 for the Compagnie of the railroads of the East. In 1938 it remained nothing any more but 5 machines which became the 1-021 has 446,452,472,474 and 478 with the SNCF.
Service
These machines appear among the oldest series which were incorporated in the SNCF without having sudden important modifications. If their daily newspaper batches were the trains traveller very quickly they found to tow trains trams which were not other than the ancestors of the Autorail S. These machines having a good unconventional behavior and having been well built for the time did not disappear that on March 22nd 1945 with the radiation of the 1-021 has 472 .
The deposits which lodged them at the beginning were: Châlons, Chaumont, Rheims, Nancy and Troyes. Thereafter and because of the change of the towed trains it were even found in about fifteen small deposits of appendices. In 1938 it was decided to only assign the 5 surviving ones to the deposit of Vitry-le-François then to that of Amagne.
Description
These machines had a motor two interior cylinders with simple expansion and the distribution was of the type “Stephenson”. The hearth was a hearth of the type “Crampton” with narrow grid. The back Essieu was with external rockets and without side displacement.
Tender
The tenders which theirs were coupled were at the beginning of the tenders recovered on the Crampton then came from the tenders to 2 axles containing 7 m ³ water and 5 T of coal registered 826 to 958 and tenders always with 2 axles but containing 10 m ³ water and 5 T of coal registered 371 to 427 . The first became the 1-7 has 826 to 958 and were coupled with 2 units and the second became the 1-10 has 371 to 427 and were coupled with the 3 other units.
